We are delighted to announce that CDC Scotland are finalists in the World Oil Awards 2017, Best Production Technology category.
The winners of the award will be revealed at a gala event in October and like last year – we’ll be there!
This year the MOPSOU (mobile offshore production storage and offloading unit) is being recognised as an innovative solution for small pools with its potential to reduce costs and deliver efficiency savings.
Sitting in the ‘Best Production Technology’ category alongside industry giants such as Schlumberger, Weatherford and Saudi Aramco / Baker Hughes is an honour in itself.
Iain says “We are delighted to have a third design nominated in this year’s awards. To be recognised at this level for a second year running is a testament to our wee team based in Scotland. We’d like to thank business partners and Scottish Enterprise who have worked with us and provided their support along the way.”
The MOPSOU concept is a jack-up production platform combined with a unique storage MAT to provide a self-installing, seabed storage solution. Designed with marginal fields / small pools in mind, the MOPSOU will reduce costs and substantially cut the time to first oil production.
Rig-less intervention strategies combined with multi-activity vessels are at the heart of CDC designs. The company is currently in discussion with a number drilling contractors and 3rd party services providers who are considering CDC vessels as a way to increase their own operational efficiencies. Iain continues “Because our vessels are rig-less there’s a greater amount of deck space on board and fewer personnel required. A number of 3rd party service providers are viewing this as a means of delivering a more attractive service to their customers.”
